News 26 September 2019

From the Chief Executive 26 September 2019

I am pleased to bring you a new format for my Victorian Chamber News update, distributed fortnightly. Over the coming months members will notice a range of changes, including more videos that will provide more engaging news and information.

Transcript below:

Yesterday, we headed to the iconic MCG with more than 500 members of the business community for yet another successful, sold-out Victorian Chamber Pitcher Partners Grand Final Lunch.

It was a pleasure to be joined by Channel Seven’s Hamish McLachlan and AFL Captains Nathan Jones, Dyson Heppell and Patrick Cripps, for a compelling conversation about leadership, both on and off the field.

Guests also enjoyed a father and daughter chat between AFLW Carlton Football Club player Lauren Brazzale and John Brazzale, Partner and National Chairman of Pitcher Partners.

Thank you to all who attended - we wish Richmond and GWS supporters all the best for this weekend.

In other news, applications for the Federal Government’s Manufacturing Modernisation Fund are now open until 31 October.

If you’re a small to medium-sized manufacturing business who needs between $50,000 to $1 million in co-funding for a capital investment project – maybe to upgrade your technology, increase your efficiency or make other transformative changes to your operations, visit business.gov.au to find out more, or contact our policy team for assistance on policy@victorianchamber.com.au.

A couple of weeks ago I provided an update on the Victorian Government’s new environmental protection laws, which will come into effect on 1 July 2020.

The Victorian Chamber is preparing a submission on how the proposed regulations are likely to impact members and we need your input to help us shape our response.

Please visit our website, victorianchamber.com.au to have your say via our online survey, closing 7 October 2019. It will take around 20 minutes to complete.

Your response will be treated in strict confidence and will help us advocate on your behalf.

Thank you and have a good week ahead.
